I bought this tour as a mother's day present, and we had a fantastic time! The food surpassed my expectations, and it was great to see parts of DC that I had not yet explored as a local. We met really interesting people in our group, and our guide Christian helped facilitate that camaraderie. Lovely sights, cool restaurants - would highly recommend!

My husband and I enjoyed a fantastic Capitol Hill tour! Chris, our tour guide, was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and made our tour that much more spectacular. The food was delicious Ð we particularly enjoyed the Indian Pakistani Strant. It was just enough walking, information/history, and food to satisfy the masses. Would recommend this tour without reservation.

Andrew was our tour guide and he did a fabulous job! Highly recommend him. He had great knowledge of the history and architecture of the area, along with the four restaurants we visited. The food was very good, with large portions. Do not eat before tour, you would be sorry and you really won't want to eat after either. A very good adventure for sure. Walking shoes a must and camera. We had a perfect weather day. We will probably do another food tour on our next trip back to DC. My favorite food was the Anglo- Indian restaurant, it was really good and I will definitely visit that eatery on a return trip. We were a small group of 7 which was super; not always the case. Great tour!! Thanks.

Toured Barracks row of the Capitol Hill area. Our tour guide was very friendly, talkative and knowledgable about her neighborhood. Highly recommend these tours as a way to get to know areas of a new city or find out intersting intimate little known details. Fun and unique experience, all the restaurants were nice and had a cool vibe. Great tour.

When visiting my daughter and son-in-law, we always look for something different to do that we can all enjoy. A Food tour was a perfect activity. How can you beat good food, strolling in wonderful spring weather, seeing a part of the hidden Washington, all done in good company? Chris, our guide was wonderful and really made the history part come alive. This was such fun, we plan to explore another neighborhood on my next visit.

This tour was interesting and different from the regular Washington tours. The guide, who was a proud, and active, member of the local community walked and talked us around the area; explaining the history and development of the properties. We also had reasonable food in 4 different restaurants, all ok. This wish not a "food" tour; as I have experienced before, but worth doing none the less.

Jen was a fantastic tour guide with a wealth of knowledge. The restaurants were fantastic, especially the Indian food! Walking around the Capitol Hill District we learned so much about the history and culture of the city. It was truly an excellent experience! Next time I visit DC I will surely be going on another food tour in a different city! Thanks so much!!

I learned a lot about the type of housing/construction in the area during different eras. Also I learned a lot about who lived where etc. We stopped a lot and the guide gave tons of information. Make sure you do have a small bite to eat before the tour because getting to the first restaurant takes a little time. Also you will be full by the end of the tour, I literally did not eat anymore that day. Its a good experience to enjoy when the weather is optimal. It was windy and a little cold so I started to drift off and not listen to what the guide was saying. I had a good mix of people in my group and we all got to talk and get to know each other a little better so there weren't any awkward pauses at the table. I definitely had my favorite places that I will return to but they all had that something special in their menus. I will do a tour again.

A great way to get to know an up and coming neighborhood in DC as well as sample some different cuisines. Not all of the restaurants were 10's but each had something unique and tasty. Guide did a good job of accommodating a gluten allergy in our group. We did it as a family since we have older children, but a great adult activity for couples or groups for sure.

I was very pleased with the tour. The guide was quite friendly and knowlegeable. It was a nice mix of finding out about the neighborhood and enjoying the food from a handful of restaurants. Here are a couple of suggestions: 1) The restaurant owner or manager should give a brief talk about the restaurant - when it started - what it specializes in -- the clientele, etc. I would also suggest that tour guide get each participant to say his name at the first restaurant and say a word about where he/she is from etc. An early icebreaker would enhance the comraderie of the group. Overall, it was a very enjoyable food tour.

I have been on several of the DC Metro Food Tours and I've loved all of them. Highlights are the highly informed tour guides who sincerely love the District, the interesting restaurants and shops that I have missed after years of living in the city, and the historical/architectural/cultural context given to the neighborhood throughout the tour. This is my favorite way to reintroduce myself to different neighborhoods I think I know.

Our tour came at the beginning of our visit to the DC area. It was a wonderful way to learn about the neighborhoods in DC. This was a much more personal and relaxed way to experience the area. I had gone on a Food Tour in Boston which was a much more food and cooking driven tour. The Capital tour had eating and restaurant visits but the group leader used the restaruants to explain the historical area we wandered through with architectural finds and neighborhood strolls. We saw different homes, historical buildings and all included a indepth commentary of what we were seeing. The area is diverse and so was our food and restaruant choices. The food was different, delicious and fun. We ate well and the group of 5 plus the tour guide experienced a great easy sharing of our different life experiences. This meshing was coordinated by Christopher our guide but we found common interests besides the food and really enjoyed our time together. I wish we could join more tours into the other areas of DC because we really enjoyed this one!

My friend and I were the only two people under 50 in the group, but everyone was lovely, and we got along well. I thought we might get to see more of the sights in 3.5 hours, but we spent most of our time sitting in the restaurants. The food itself was delicious, and our tour guide Christian was insanely cool and friendly. The guy knew his stuff and made an effort to engage every single person on our tour. He also went away from what I presume is the usual track to show us historical sights nearby like John Philip Sousa's home and the Commandant's house while throwing in some great info. I'd love to do another one in the future and drag some other friends along.

I have to say I did not know what to expect from this tour. It did not disappoint me. The walk, food and touring were just enough to keep me interested and satisfied. Didn't hurt much that the weather was beautiful too. The tour profiled a neighborhood that is up and coming with one of the highlights being that they diversity of culture showed in the food. The mix of the diverse menu of the tour and the history of the neighborhood was perfectly matched. In addition the walking in between the food stops was fun and not taxing on the body.

Our tour guide - Mr. Chris Pitt could not have been better. His knowledge of not only the tour area but of DC was phenomenal. Actually he had knowledge and experience in many of the areas that the members of the group were from so it added an extra dimension to the tour. He was quite the host I have to say. He made the tour both fun and educational. I would take another tour if I have the opportunity if the cost, food and tour guides are anything like we had on this tour. Thanks for adding to our trip a great experience while in DC.

It was interesting to hear the history of Barracks Row. Mistakenly, we expected something about Eastern Market since the tour is called "Capitol Hill". All of the restaurants visited were on 8th street. The samples were delicious. Our guide seemed more interested in lectures and less interested in questions, comments or contributions from tourists. That being said, we learned a lot about the people who lived in Barracks Row and how/why it was established. We would recommend this tour for visitors to DC who would like to know about an area that has great restaurants with easy metro access. Cava was the hands down favorite for food quality, variety and friendly staff.

Most of the restaurants did not have the air conditioning on. It was awful on such a hot day. The restaurant which served us Beef (it was the 3rd restaurant in the sequence of activities) should be taken out from this tour and some Mexican restaurant should be added. I wish the tour (at the end) also included visit to the gourmet food stores in DC where people could buy some gourmet items.

My husband & I had never taken a food tour before so we didn't know what to expect. I thought we might hit some vendors or food carts but never expected to actually sit down and be served at 4 different restaurants. We enjoyed all 4 places and were full after the 3rd. It was a perfect way to spend a warm afternoon (4 hours), where we could get water, air conditioning and have access to bathrooms throughout the tour. In between meals the walk around the area and information about different houses and places was interesting as well. Overall the 4 of us in my group would highly recommend it.

Really enjoyed the tour and the food served on the tour was yummy...the tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly...my only observation/complaint was that it would have been really nice to have gotten something that told about some of the the food stops along the way (names of the potential restaurants because I know you change up from tour to tour) so we had a record of them and others. Got back home and tried to recall names of the restaurants and though I could remember the food, I couldnt remember the name of the restarant. Other then that...it was really a great day and I learned alot of good info about the area's history.

We were disappointed by the tour guide delaying the start of the tour by 30 minutes to wait for a group who got lost. The arrival information stated to be on time or the tour leaves without you. We did not find this to be the case and did not like waiting that long to start our tour and tastings. We had a much better experience during our Greenwich Village tour a few years ago with Zerve.

The historic tour of Capital Hill did not disappoint and the 4 restaurants on the tour offered us a good cross section of the variety of food available on 8th Street, NW. If you depart on time, it is an enjoyable tour to take in a part of DC that many tourist and locals like us have never experienced.

I really enjoyed the first half of the tour. During the first few walks and the first restaurant stop we learned a lot about the architecture of buildings in the neighborhood, the planning of the city of DC and even a little about the origins of the Indian dishes we were eating. Then it seemed like the information kind of stopped there? The last 3 restaurant stops were all tasty but there wasn't much talked about during these stops. Sharon was an amazing tour guide through the streets of Capitol Hill! We learned so much about the history of the area, the life of the neighborhood and the details of the culinary feasts in which we participated! The whole afternoon was so much more than we could have EVER imagined. See (and taste) DC like you have not seen it before!

I had never done a food tour before so did not know what to expect, thought it would be eating food and learning about food. It was so much more!! Sharon was our guide and she taught us so much history of the area it was amazing. The food at each place was great and the timing was scheduled perfect, small walks in between and more history. I will do other tours, it was a great way to learn about the area and to spend an afternoon.

We recently moved to DC and took this tour with visiting family. The tour guide Christopher was excellent: well-informed, personable, engaging and attentive. The selected restaurants/foods were also excellent: delicious and well-appointed with ample serving size. This tour is a great way to learn more about local history, architecture and custom while walking neighborhoods and trying new foods. You won't need any dinner that night! Highly recommended.

Food delivery was prompt. We enjoyed the Indian, Greek, then followed by Italian food. Each restaurant came with a story and the hosts were very accommodating. Plenty of food and good variety. We had a flight to catch, and Sharon, our guide arranged for the last course, dessert, to be packaged as take away. Great service and highly recommended.

My husband and I visited DC and had to do a food tour. We've done 2 others (in NY and San Fran) and were excited to try it out. The food was delicious and different. There was only one other couple, so it was a more intimate group than on the other tours we'd been on before. Our tour guide talked a little about the surrounding area. Overall it was a fun experience !

Enjoyable tour but the route and historical aspects could use some enhancement. We had several different types of delicious food on this tour, and we certainly got our money's worth on that. The walking tour, while including some interesting history, was a bit repetitive--we ended up circling through a 2-block area several times. We would have enjoyed it more if the tour included a broader area, and didn't go along the same streets. For instance, Eastern Market was right next door and we didn't even walk by it or talk about it.

First of all, our tour guide Pam was exceptional. She was extremely knowledgeable, fun and made you feel as if you were hearing a series of stories rather than history She took an interest in each of us, made us all feel comfortable and got the whole group talking (even the people we didn't know). The food was awesome!!!! Loved the restaurants. Great variety of food. I took teenagers who moaned before the tour,"Why go on a tour when you can just Wikipedia everything?" Well.....they all LOVED it and each told us how wrong they were after. (Ages 14-19). I would highly recommend this!!

Thoroughly enjoyed the Capital Hill food tour. Chris was a wonderful guide. He was knowledgable about the food, the restaurants, and the area. He was made us all feel included and seemed genuinely interested in learning about us as well as teaching us about his city.

The food was excellent at all four places. I can't say a bad thing thing about the tour. The price is a bit high, but its worth it.

Come prepared to walk. This is not a time to wear high heels! If your kids aren't willing to try new foods, leave them home, its not worth it for them or you (My 12 year old enjoyed everything, probably more than I did.) If you or your kids can't put the cell phone away for a few hours, this isn't for you. Its much better when everyone listens, learns, and contributes to the conversation.

This was our first food tour in Washington D.C., second overall (South Beach, Miami was the first). The 3.5 hour Sunday tour was comfortably paced and food was plentiful along the way (it helps when the D.C. weather is favorable). Our tour guide Christopher was very knowledgeable in both the food and history of the D.C. area. The tour was small allowing time for many questions amongst the group. The tour is highly recommended and well worth the time commitment. Word of caution...be prepared to walk.

We enjoyed our tour and our guide - Sharon. She was very informed, an easy manner and very engaging. The range of cuisine was excellent and enabled us to try a variety of restaurants that we wouldn't have otherwise visited. The architecture of the neighbourhood and the stories behind it all was fascinating and Sharon did a wonderful job in delivering the information in small enough bites for us to absorb and remember (at least most of it). Visiting the small, locally owned restaurants and trying multiple small meals was wonderful and very, very filling. We would recommend this tour to those who like to learn by hearing rather than reading it all in a guide book and a unique way to try the locally owned restaurants. It was a very easy walk and seemed quite well paced.

Our tour guide Pamela gave a very informative and enjoyable historical tour around the neighborhood, including several landmarks I otherwise wouldn't have identified.

The restaurant stops were really delicious, and highlighted a diverse set of cuisines. As a food journalist, Pam was very knowledgeable about the historical context of the dishes we were served, as well as being very comfortable with striking up a conversation with each member of our party.

I highly recommend this experience to a bachelor/bachelorette party such as ours. Thank you!

Our group was my brother and his fiancee and thier wedding party (groomsmen and bridesmaids). We were all very skeptical and was unsure even how the day would work. We instantly fell in love with Pam and knew we would have a good time. There was a mixed group of foodies like myself (hospitality and culinary degree) and people who consider McDonalds a great meal. Everyone enjoyed it. The group all agreed at the end that the tour would have been a decent afternoon with a poor to average tour guide, but Pam really made it special. If I could offer any advice it would be to ensure that all the tour guides are as enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and as connected in the food world as Pam is or you will be settling with an overpriced walk around lunch. Our group love it and we thank you.

My wife and I were in DC celebrating her birthday and our anniversary. We took this tour because my wife booked it as a surprise. We arrived late to the meeting place and found that our tour had already left. We automatically called the company and we were told where our tour guide would be taking the rest of the tour. We asked a local for directions and we were able to locate our tour. We arrived as they were sitting down at the table and talking about some sights that they had already seen. Our food was delicious and hot to order. The menu that was given to us was absolutely marvelous. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and we learned alot about our country's history. We would recommend it, it is awesome for a couple who likes to try new foods and is not extremly picking. This tour is not really recommended for families with small children because you do alot of walking about 1.5-2 hours of it to be exact and children may not like the food offered which would be a waste of your money. The meals are elegantly presented and the resteraunt treats you like royality. We will be doing this tour again when we come back to visit. What I loved was that we were never rushed when eating and we got a story told to us about the meals we were eating. Found out a lot about the different cultures represented in each meal. YUM!!!!!!!!! :)

For starters, our tour guide, Sharon Bosworth had so much historical knowledge of the Capitol Hill area and restaurants, it was worth the price even without the food. I won't give anything away about the homes and buildings visited on the tour, but some of it was fascinating - such beautiful homes in the area. It was nice to walk around in between food servings, to walk off some of the food. The restaurants on the tour were fantastic and we are so glad we went! Starting at Capitol Hill Tandoor & Grill we had two excellent dishes - starting with mulligatawny soup, followed by tandoor chicken with vegetables and basmati rice, and naan bread. Next up was Cava Mezze, Greek cuisine - we had some wonderful warm pita bread with olives and olive oil, next up was lamb cooked with orzo and spices, and then the 'flaming cheese'. That was an exciting experience, and the cheese itself was fabulous (that was my favorite stop). Then we moved on to Lavagna Italian restaurant where we had a beet, goat cheese & arugula salad, and a plate of gnocchi with gorgonzola & walnuts, finishing with a glass of limoncello. Our final restaurant destination was Zest where we enjoyed an excellent piece of pumpkin bread pudding. We can't wait to sign up for the next DC Food Tour - we only wish we could have Sharon as our tour guide for every one. Well worth the money!!

I would recommend this activity as a fun date for a couple. I went with my boyfriend and we thought it was a great way to discover new delicious restaurants in a different part of the city. However, the only problem we had with it was the excess stops not really relevant to the food destinations. The tour guide took use all around the neighborhood to explain different architecture and tell anecdotes about historical figures who lived in the neighborhood. It was interesting enough, but not quite related to the purpose of the tour and it was a little uncomfortable in the cold December evening. Other than that, the experience was pleasant and delicious.
