Easy walking, plenty of food and beverage. Our tour guide was SAM and she was GREAT! She was knowledgeable about the history of Annapolis and all of the food stops we made. She kept us entertained for the entire tour! She also made sure we were well taken care of at each stop (EXAMPLE: some folks did not like oysters; they got shrimp).

This food tour was full of Annapolis history and stops for great food. The food wasn't necessarily tied into the history, but made for interesting stops and a chance to get to know some great restaurants and chat with our tour mates. The samples were generous and we tasted pizza, crab soup, fried shrimp, oysters, beer, farm fresh tacos, and local ice cream - all delicious! We could get wine flights and margaritas, too. Our guide was full of energy and interesting facts and made it a memorable experience. We'd definitely recommend this as a fun way to spend a day, but it was closer to 4 hours (if not more) than 3.25. Not usually a problem when you get more for your money, but good to know for planning purposes.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our guide on the Federal Hill Tour. He had a thorough knowledge of the area and the restaurants chosen were interesting and the food was generous and delicious. We arrived a few minutes early and were glad we used a parking garage. We plan to take advantage of all of historic food tour options in the future.

We had a great time on the food tour with Sam telling us about the history of different places in Annapolis and stopping at five different places to eat along the way. She also gave us tips on places to go and things to see and do. We took several of her suggestions on places to shop and were happy with what we found. I would recommend this tour to anyone that is new to the area or anyone who would like to hear about the history of the area. Also, a great way to see the city and try new foods!

Our group of 10 very much enjoyed our food tour with Carolyn. She had an extensive knowledge of the history of the area and presented it in such an interesting way. We loved the restaurants we stopped at, a variety of foods and places. Our group of friends spent the next several days discussing which place was the best and we did go back to eat at the Tavern the next day. Thanks for a wonderful afternoon with a wonderful tour. Getting the private tour arranged for our group was very easy and Sharone was so accomodating and responsive to my needs and questions. Everything was perfect

Our group of old college friends met in Annapolis for a reunion and decided a food tour would be a fun way to see some of the city. It was! We loved all the food stops as well as the walk through the city streets. The tour lasted about 3 1/2 hrs and it was a lot of walking, but the food stops give you breaks. We had our own private group which made the tour very even more fun. Our guide was wonderful and made sure that any special dietary needs were accommodated. This is a great way to get acquainted with a city!

The pace of the tour was exactly right. Carolyn, our guide, accommodated her pace to slower guests but it didn't hold us up from any of the points of interest she wanted us to see.

The various stops that did include tastings were well planned and spaced through the tour. Her ability to use her cell phone to inform each location of our impending arrival(s) certainly expedited our time. Also, she made every effort to accommodate a couple of allergies on some of our party.

All in all, a great tour, a great, well informed guide.

Her enthusiasm was infectious and made it a wonderful afternoon.

I'd recommend the whole experience to anyone.

Two of my girlfriends and I decided on a weekend getaway to Annapolis! I had never been and was excited to experience the food scene and get some history of the town. We were hoping that the restaurants would somehow intertwine with the history, but not so much. Overall, it was a great time and all of the food was amazing! Carol, our tour guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic and truly made the tour a fun experience. Participating in the tour once was enough, but we'll definitely be revisiting the restaurants in future visits to Annapolis!

You will "feed" both your mind and your stomach, you will enjoy every minute of it!

And if you are lucky, then your guide will be Sam and you will get even more excitement

From the tour because meeting Sam will add some spice to the tour. Sam is not only very nice but very knowlegible and she not only provide you with very interesting information but also answer any of your questions. So, are you home yet? Pack you bags and go to Annapolis to take this tour!

Why take a food tour? Perhaps you'll get a special dish not on the menu or be personally greeted by an owner/host/chef explaining what makes their restaurant and food unique. Neither happened on this tour. Our enthusiastic guide wove an interesting story of Annapolis history and architecture. And the variety and qualify of the food was excellent. But the lack of any extra touch from restaurants hosting a food tour was unexpected and missed.

It was our first visit to Annapolis and got to town around noon. We met our guide Sam for the 1pm food tour. She is very knowledgeable of the area and history. Each stop provided a delicious treat and was perfectly timed out so there was never a wait. The flatbread pizza at our first stop ended up being my wife's favorite food on our trip. The crab bisque and shrimp was my favorite. The ice cream stop at the end was the perfect cherry on top of a great afternoon. Sam had a great personality, answered many questions, and facilitated interesting conversation. It was the perfect was to begin our vacation, because we were comfortable on navigating all the streets and gave us ideas for future places to visit.

Sam from Annapolis Food Tours led our group (8 ladies on a bachelorette weekend) on a fantastic (and delicious!) tour through downtown Annapolis. She was enthusiastic, knowledgable, and fun, leading us through Annapolis's most notable historical sites and into some wonderful restaurants with a great mix of classic Maryland fare and more modern dishes.

I should also add that on the day of our tour, there was police activity downtown, right in the middle of our projected tour route, which (luckily) cleared by the start of our tour. Both Sam and Molly (from the DC office) went out of their way to accommodate and work around the disruption and communicated quickly and clearly with our group to ensure we had a wonderful tour experience, including offering us a chance to reschedule or get a refund up until the very last minute. We're so glad we didn't have to take them up on that, but really appreciated their commitment to making sure we had a great afternoon. It was definitely a highlight of our weekend, and I would recommend this tour to anyone with a few hours to spare in Annapolis.

We had a fabulous tour with Caroline. Our group was small which allowed for questions and lots of discussion. Caroline is a wealth of info and includes a lot of info not found in history books...which made Annapolis come alive for us. The food tour started with a wonderful, albeit unusual, pizza which was wonderful. I even tried the oyster shooters which weren't bad at all. We had wonderful seafood and tacos, and ended the day with ice cream. Our bellies were full of great food, and our minds were full of interesting facts from a bygone era.

This tour was the perfect way to start our weekend in Annapolis! Our guide, Carolyn, was so enthusiastic, and kept everyone energized, even though it was a VERY cold day. All the restaurants we visited were delicious, and the tour was well-paced with a bit of walking and history in between each restaurant. This was crucial for me, as I have a small stomach, and the portions were very generous (crab soup, lamb sliders, flatbread pizza...). Carolyn had lots of interesting stories--which buildings were haunted, stories about crazy characters at the local church, artifacts that may or may not have been pirate loot. Our only regret was that we were too stuffed at the end of the tour, and didn't have room to go back to any of the restaurants for dinner! I highly recommend this tour.

I am originally from Maryland, so I thought it would be fun to bring two South Carolina friends on this food tour.

Our guide was nice but the food was not at all what I expected, nor the tour. I could buy pizza, ravioli, ice cream, potatoe soup and a catfish taco pretty much anywhere. There was one oyster shooter and that was regional, and a very bad crab ball in the potatoe soup but I was expecting regional food....crab soup, steamed or soft shell crab, Utz potatoe chips, etc. there is plenty to eat on this tour so that was not the problem but you could easily have taken an Annapolis tour and then picked your own spots to graze. Also, this is not a tour I would do with more than 6 people total, children would not like or be happy on this tour and do not expect to be fed in historic taverns. This could have been a great way to see Annapolis. It was not. Save your money.

Our tour guide Carolyn was very friendly and knowledgeable. She took time on the tour to get to know each party within the tour group.

The website should really be updated. We only actually ate 2 things that were on the website's list. What to ammend: Housemade sangria, craft beers, high tea including caramel poundcake, and premium specialty coffee. Nothing was mentioned about the locale which our forefathers frequented (as mentioned on the website). Also, this listing leads one to believe that specialty drinks (sangria, beer) will be included, yet the only actual drink we were offered for our money was water. One shot of beer arrived with the oyster shooter and it was NOT a craft beer, just Natty Boh.

I enjoyed the tour. A current website is really key to honest salesmanship and satisfied customers.

we did not go to the places I expected, except Reynold's Tavern. I don't think a oyster shooter is a good choice there. My guess is many people don't want that. Something crab would be good. The other stops were excellent. There was only 2 on our tour, which the guide really tried to cancel. Bad news. If we can't cancel, why do you think you can?

It was a history and restaurant tour-not a food tour. Guide explained history of Annapolis-but did not comment on the waterfront history or anything about the fishing industry or seafood.. Food was very good, but no details about what kind of food and why it was chosen to represent Annapolis. Too much personal family info

Our tour was fabulous both food-wise and with our tour guide, Carolyn, who was a wonderful historical resource and great fun! The restaurants selected were varied and prompt with service. The day was rainy and cold so each stop gave us a chance to warm up and dry off! The tastings were ample so my advice is: go hungry!

My husband and I chose to take the Annapolis food tour after seeing how quickly the tour consistently sold out (even during the winter months) on the Zerve Web site.

We enjoyed the following about the tour:

+Great information about Annapolis (its history including details about the city's ghosts, restaurants, and lodging)

+Our tour guide Carolyn who was enthusiastic and engaging

+Tasty food choices (My personal favorites were the she-crab soup and shrimp as well as the Smith Island Cake.)

+Variety of drinks (Most of the food tours in which I participated only offer water and 1 other beverage; this tour had soda, beer, and cocktails.)

The following could be improved:

-Tour Web site (The site should be updated because a few of the stops and foods listed were not on the tour.)

-Communication with the main office (My spouse and I had to contact the office because we had parked at a different garage. The office contact had difficulty giving us directions and the tour guide's contact information.)

-More or different options at 1-2 stops (One restaurant only served a pasta dish which wasn't very unique, and another stop served only the oyster shooter which was met with mixed reviews.)

Beautiful, historic city....filled with great places to visit - nice people to talk with. Would appreciate info on restaurants visited (names, addresses, type of cuisine). All food presented was delicious. Loved the variety of foods presented. A little too much time lingering outside to hear history in the frigid temps. Will come back to Annapolis - great place! We enjoyed a fabulous afternoon with the Historic Annapolis Food tour. Our guide, Carolyn, was excellent and provided a spice of humor:) Our restaurant stops were among the cream of the crop in downtown Annapolis! It was a sunny and beautiful afternoon and we enjoyed the start at St. Anne's Church. Then on to Piccola Roma, where Mark (owner) shared his wit and wisdom about the food and history...loved it! Enjoyed the other stops- many historic and interesting, and the many photo ops as well (food stops - Harry Browne-great duck; Middleton Tavern-awesome oyster shooters; Federal House-amazing cream of crab soup; Red Red Wine Bar-famous Smith Island, Maryland State Cake). Overall would definitely recommend this tour, as it was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon in Annapolis!!

Tour made five stops, four at restaurants with roots in local history and one with just good food. All restaurants were relatively upscale, with offerings highlighted by tastes of Maryland seafood (oyster shooters, cream of crab soup) and shots of sangria and beer. But maybe the best part was wandering around AnnapolisÕ historic district, not as far as the Naval Academy but past the Capitol Building, waterfront, a haunted house, and Main Street. Tour guide had many great stories, and even as a quasi-local (Silver Spring) I found out that Annapolis has a lot more going for it than I ever imagined.

So enjoyable and full of all things worth knowing about Annapolis was our tour guide, Carolyn that I would like to repeat this tour with every relative or friend who comes to visit with me. What a wonderful way to tour Annapolis! As, a teetotaler (and there were a few of us), what little I gave up took nothing valuable away from my experience. For the cost of my ticket I was provided me with the perfect day: Wonderful food, riveting historical facts, a pleasant amount of fresh air and walking, and good people with whom to enjoy the experience. I hope this company expands (as they so richly deserve to do) so they will someday be able to include tours on the weekdays. I have always had a fairly good time visiting Annapolis. But never, ever, before have had I enjoyed it this much! In addition to retaking this tour, I would very much like to also take their tours of Washington D.C. and Baltimore whenever I want to take someone to lunch in an extra special way.

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Annapolis is a delightful town. If I had one critisim it would be that most of the food was at the end of the tour, it might have been nicer to have had some of the culinary stops a little sooner but that might not have been convenient for the restaurants I will look for a culinary tour everytime I visit a large city. .

The tour would be better if done later in the afternoon, e.g. 3pm. It would have been nice if the owner of the Italian restaurant was available to talk to the group. The Middletown Tavern was a disappointment. We were rushed in & out, the room was hot, & there should have been an alternative for the oyster shooter. Otherwise, the restaurants were fine. The tour guide walked very fast, usually way ahead of the group. It would have been nice if she walked with different members of the group as we went from restaurant to restaurant.

This tour was a well balanced introduction to Annapolis history flavored with a delightful mix of cuisine available there. I LOVED the anecdote of "gossip".. the context of Annapolis' emergence and decline as a port.. and the Middleton tavern story.. and the "communal bakery" prohibiting ovens in homes... that's just a smattering!

The cuisine... Piccolla Roma.. and Mark's description of the food and tour of available accomodations... what a way to tour the boat show! All of the restaurants were welcoming and a special "local flavor": was the "Smith Island Cake" at the Red Red Wine Bar... along with it's story of course.

Our tour guide was well informed, set a pace for a varied group in terms of speed in walking and information and responded to questions in a delightfully informed and professional manner.

I will "do the tour" again!

Very informative about Annapolis and about food becasue she is a Chef. We felt the tour was a great mix of History, food and fun. We revisited 2 of the restaurants that we ate in. One for dinner in the evening and one for brunch on Sunday morning.

My advice to anyone taking this tour is not to eat anything for several hours before..and not to have immediate dinner plans after because you will be happily stuffed by the end of the tour. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Annapolis.

A three hour historical walking tour may sound intimidating, but the frequent stops in air-conditioned restaurants broke up the tour quite nicely. The guide was informative and the historical tidbits were very interesting. And the food part was a win for all -- while the restaurants slow down in the mid-afternoon, we roll in. It's a great, un-rushed atmosphere. The description reads that the cumulative food is roughly equal to a "light lunch"... maybe for a 300-pound gorilla! We left too full to eat dinner that night... and that's a good thing in my book.

My wife and I enjoy Annapolis and love to eat. We thought a food tour would be fun and different. Our tour guide, a chef, was great, and endured one of the hottest days of the year. More than half of our 3.5 hours was spent walking and listening to her talk about history. I was surprised and wished more time had been spent eating. For $50 (or so) the value is consistent with the experience. Like other reviewers as far back as May, we had the same restaurants and same dishes: popovers at Treaty of Paris (not good, should be cut); sangria, beef carpaccio, and bruschetta at Piccola Roma (very good); duck confit pasta at Harry Brown's (also good); coconut shrimp and cream of crab soup at Federal House (plus a local beer!); oyster shooter at Middleton Tavern (too much cocktail sauce, and terrible beer); and ice cream at Annapolis Ice Cream Company (lots of flavors to choose from). I would be willing to pay a bit more for higher quality food.

I am from Maryland, but moved to Annapolis almost 2 years ago. I went on this tour with my husband and another couple, and we all had a lot of fun. We were able to try some different foods while learning a little bit about Annapolis. On our tour, we had popovers at Treaty of Paris; sangria, beef carpaccio, and other tasty bites at Piccola Roma; duck confit pasta at Harry Brown's; coconut shrimp and cream of crab soup at Federal House; oyster shooter at Middleton Tavern; and ice cream at Annapolis Ice Cream Company (I think). There was more than enough food for a meal, and yes, some of the food was a little adventurous, but if I went on a food tour to eat hamburgers and french fries I would be disappointed. There were a few minor snags getting 10 people to 6 different places to eat while also touring other key places in Annapolis on a busy Saturday afternoon, but nothing that detracted from a very nice day. Overall I would recommend this to a friend.

I treated one of my good friends to the Historic Annapolis Food Tour for her birthday. We were a few minutes late, but the tour guide waited for us. The food was great; especially the flash fried spinach. The tour was filled with tons of historical facts about Annapolis. Although it was cold outside, we had an awesome time. The Historic Annapolis Food Tour makes a great gift or activity!

Our guide, Lauren was wonderful. La Picolla Roma was my favorite.. I just loved how the owner, Mark stayed at our table while we tasted. I can't wait to go back. The food was awesome!

Interesting tour, although it was the first tour for one of the guides and she was a little shaky, not very loud, and nervous. The accompanying experienced guide was very good. Great food and interesting stops to have the food.

She had great enthusiasm.

My favorite was piccola roma. The owner was stellar and passionate about his place, his chefs and the food was amazing. Loved the tea place...what a nice surprise. the food and tour was worth the price and the rain and snow.

My wife and I took the historic food tour in Annapolis for our anniversary. It was a great time. Our tour guide Jill was knowledgable and made the tour fun for the whole group with her wry sense of humor and obvious love of the city. There was enough background to satisfy me, somewhat a history buff, but not too much to overload my wife who was more interested in the food side of the tour. We did eat some phenomenal food throughout the tour. The soups at Hell's Point were especially memorable. All in all it was a great experience, one which I have already recommended to friends. We would definitely do another tour with them.

Our guide rambled on and talked A LOT about ghost stories. We truly enjoyed the food, restaurants, and the information presented to us by the owners of the establishments that we visited.

Better than your normal walking tour. You still get historical facts, but samples from local restaurants adds so much! We went back for meals or drinks based on the tastings we had along the way. Go with the attitude that you'll try some new things. I don't care for mussels, but the offering at Hell Point was pretty good. My wife had her first oyster shooter at Middletons. I now know what a pop over is, why taverns exist, and how large meals were cooked in the early 19th century. Take this tour and you'll be pleased and have a full belly!

I went with my boyfriend on this tour just as a fun daytime activity and we both also love food. We had such a great time and our guide was really fantastic. We didn't realize there was so much to see and so many delicious places to eat! I'd go back to all of the restaurants on my own and am glad we got introduced to them in such a fun way. I'd highly recommend this tour to anyone and hope to go on others soon.

My husband and I attended the Food Tour along with our married son and his wife. We enjoyed the delicious tastings at a variety of establishments. It was relaxed and had just enough history mixed in to make it interesting. Our tour guide was delightful, upbeat and willing to answer any and all questions.

Hi,

Took this tour with my parents and we had a great time! It was super hot out, but we didn't have any issues since we stayed in the shade most of the time and there were plenty of stops for delicious, small treats of food! It was very neat to get to experience the atmosphere of taverns established in the 1700 and 1800's. And some of the food was delicious! Also really enjoyed going into a house that has been in the family for generations; Anne Jensen the owner was wonderful.

Our tour guide was great and really played the role of a colonial person well-she also brought in each member of the group at different times.

Variety of food was also great: Crab cakes, stuffed clams, sushi, beer, oyster shooters, ice cream!
