Our guide Nick was very knowledgable about Little Italy and had interesting bits of history and trivia to relate as we walked between restaurants. The food sampling was good and enough that we didn't need dinner later that evening. The culinary highlight was probably the braised beef at Gia's.

My friend and I booked our tour months ago and the day before it was scheduled we received a call that we were the only people signed up and would we be interested in a different tour location or scheduling a different day. We really wanted this tour and couldn't reschedule because we are from out of town. The company accommodated us and ran the tour for just us. AJ was a great guide and he even gave us a list of local recommendations for our stay in Baltimore. The food was delicious and we were absolutely stuffed, we even took food back to the hotel. I would definitely recommend this tour.

I used to live in Baltimore and was visiting a friend who still lives in Baltimore for a girls weekend. We wanted to do things neither one of us had done before in town. So when we found this food tour it was perfect. We love food and always like to try new places. The tour ended up being even better then we thought. A few of the stops we hadn't heard about before so we now have a few new go to eateries. Our tour guide, Ambie, made the whole experience really relaxed and enjoyable. Would love to try one of the other food tours they offer the next time I visit!

I'm always hesitant when it comes to group tours. But this one has gotten great reviews so my wife and I decided to try it while we were on a short vacation weekend in Baltimore. We met Kathleen our guide at the designated spot. It was a bit of large group, maybe 15 or so on the tour but Kathleen handled it well. It was nice to chat with Kathleen. She was so personable and very knowledgeable on history of the area.

The first spot was Attman's Deli. The corned beef sandwich, coddie and knish were all great!

There were several historic spots we saw during the tour including where local flagmaker Mary Young Pickersgill made the flag that was flying on Ft. McHenry that inspired Francis Scott Key.

Second stop was at Cafˇ Gia where we had spinach and ricotta ravioli plus braised beef. The small portions were perfect and delicious.

The third stop was Isabella's Brick Oven Pizza. We were served take-out outside sitting on the benches in the bocci court. We had fried stuffed risotto balls and mediocre pizza. I was not impressed.

The last stop was Piedigrotta Bakery. The owner is credited in creating Tiramisu. We had nice big slices of Tiramisu and great espresso. The owner and his wife run the shop. The wife learned I spoke some Italian and she was thrilled to talk a bit. We took eclairs home which were great.

I have enjoyed many food tours in the U.S, but the "Charm City Little Italy/Jonestown food tour" is one the better food tours I've experienced. Our animated and knowledgeable guide Michael provided a running dialogue with many facts on the history of Baltimore's Little Italy/Jonestown neighborhoods and restaurants. This is absolutely the most generous food tour I've excountered. Beginning with wonderful spinach ravioli accompanied by steak in a marsala reduction sauce at Cafe Gia, additional neighborhood stops included pizza, rice balls stuffed with meatballs (forgot the correct name), Pastrami on rye and latkes at Attmans (come back and buy their mustard), ending with tiramisu that is made by the baker who claims to be the inventor of the decadent dessert. If you are staying in the Inner Harbor area, utilize the free Charm City Circulator bus (Orange Line) - get off at the Maryland Jewish Museum stop. This stop is just a few steps from the tour's meeting point. The tours are kept purposefully small - there were 5 in my tour. There's no need to eat prior to the tour, you'll have lunch and then some! Enjoy!

We came down to Baltimore to do the City Lights. We had done the Federal Hill Food Tour in February. This was up to par with the first tour. Walking, hearing about a new area of Baltimore, and a good variety of great foods. What's not to like. We did the food tour in the afternoon, went to the Inner Harbor for the City Lights, and returned to a recommended restaurant in Little Italy for a late night dinner.

There was so much food we took leftovers home from one of the restaraunts. Our tour guide Umbi was fabulous. She is knowledgable of the area & passionate about her city. Her personality is perfect for the job.

We had a great time and Kathleen, our guide, was full of knowledge and fun trivia questions/facts.

The restaurants we visited were wonderful- especially Cafˇ Gia. The best ravioli hands down!

The tiramisu at Piedigrotta was to die for! I personally dislike tiramisu, and yet I ate every bite it was so good.

If we had ONE complaint it was that not having Kathleen sit down with us during our meals, and be able to accept our offers of having a piece of this or that, was very uncomfortable. It almost felt like we were being rude. While we understand the guides can't have their own plate at every restaurant, it would be so much more friendly, and comfortable if they were allowed to sit with the group and accept our offers of sharing our food. Would have felt more like we were sitting/eating with a friend and not being watched while we ate.

Kathleen was very gracious about it all and kept us laughing, and she was very sweet-but we felt strange.

We had a great time, and I would definitely recommend to anyone to go on this tour.

I was visiting Baltimore for work and had some free time one day. I enjoy walking food tours and have gone on a few of them so decided to go on the Little Italy/Jonestown food tour. I enjoyed the food and the history and trivia. Nick, our tour guide, was very nice.

One area I'd suggest for improvement of the tour is the route. The route of this tour was new and felt rather untested. We started near a Jewish deli, but walked to Little Italy for the first stop then walked back to the Jewish deli spot where we started. Then walked back to Little Italy for the third and fourth stops. There was some interesting history and trivia shared about the area, but not as much as I have heard in other areas. The stop at the Flag House was a cool stop that I enjoyed. Since it is located in a residential area, I had never made the effort to go there on my previous visits.

Despite the route issue, there is food on this tour--that makes it worth my while. I'd much rather go on this tour than go shopping.

You can read about the food I sampled on the tour in a blog post.

My husband got this for birthday and it was really fun. And we were absolutely STUFFED by the end. Our tour guide was great, too. She gave a good blend of overall history with personal anecdotes, which I think makes a tour more personal and unique. She even had a candle in the tiramisu for my birthday! The food was delicious, hot and everything seemed well organized. I'd go again...and make sure I didn't eat breakfast this time!

Our guide was fabulous. She was friendly and explained a lot of fun facts about the Little Italy and Jonestown neighborhoods. All of the food was delicious--and there was a LOT of it. We took doggie bags from almost every place we visited. I was not expecting sit-down meals but it really fostered community/friendship among our group. I would recommend this tour as a way to familiarize yourself with the Little Italy neighborhood, learn and enjoy delicious food (and wine though this was a la carte) with new friends. An extremely pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

I chose this tour because of the location and the reputation of all the Little Italy restaurants. The first stop a Attmans Deli is a great way to sample Jonestowns famous corned beef row.

Enjoyed the welcoming at Cafe Gia and delicious pasta & meatballs.

Chiparrllies salad is a always a classic. Tiramiseau and coffee for the last stop is a nice end of tour sweet treat.

AJ, our guide, was knowledgeable and very glib with conversation. Great day.

This is my third food tour, and my sister's forth. The food was great. The restaurants chosen in Little Italy were spot on, and the food and service in each was delicious. I also enjoyed the variety of food given it was Little Italy. The only thing that made this tour less points then my past was the tour guide. She was nice. She did not give the history of the area as much as I had gotten used to hearing in the past tours. She also did not have the passion for the area, or even a passion for history or food like the other tour guides. Perhaps my sister and I both have been spoiled on the other tours, but either way my experiences with the other tour guides and all of the great things I learned with them made me want to come back.

It was a great mix of food and history! The food at our restaurants was excellent and we were provided with to-go containers to take home all the leftovers. I've lived in my city for 5 years and discovered new facts and places! The amount of food you get is a TON. It is impossible to eat it all, so I'm glad I was able to take it home with me.

I have dietary restrictions, but both the restaurant and guide were super accommodating and made me feel comfortable. Sometimes they dishes they gave me were even looked better than the standard meals! Unfortunately one of the fellow guests seemed upset and couldn't understand why I was getting "special treatment", but that's not really a fault of the tour.

Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, but we lingered a long time at the restaurants and sometimes she would disappear. I think she could have stayed and told us more about the history or answered questions about the restaurant.

Sometimes we hung around too long at one location and I could see the diners getting restless, but most of the time we were waiting for one person to finish his wine. Not really a fault of the tour either.

I'm not sure if this is typical, but our group seemed to be made of affluent retirees who enjoyed teasing the young-uns! As someone in her 20's I wouldn't feel comfortable taking the tour by myself.

We had a wonderful time on our food tour of Jonestown and Little Italy! Our guide, Ambi, was incredibly nice and knowledgeable, the food was great, and all the people we met were friendly and welcoming. While the tour is changed periodically, our tour started with a stop at a delicatessan on "Corned Beef Row" in Jonestown to sample their most popular items, including the best corned beef I've ever eaten in my life. The tour then moved to Little Italy and a beautiful neighborhood cafe for soup and antipasta, which were both delicious. That was followed by a stop at one of the two oldest neighborhood restaurants for meatballs and its famous house salad. We ended the day at a cafe/bakery where we sampled pasta and an amazing tiramisu. By the end of the tour we were pleasantly stuffed and had fallen in love with Little Italy.

While the food was great, the real gem of the tour was our guide Ambi. Her love of Baltimore and Jonestown/Little Italy is genuine and infectious. She peppered the tour with rich historical information on the city and the neighborhood and included stops at many of the neighborhood's significant sites. Her knowledge of the neighborood and the families who have made it great was really impressive. She contributed so much depth to the experience that it took the tour to a whole new level. She was also a lot of fun!

One thing to note about this tour is that it isn't designed to include much interaction with food purveyors and/or the folks in the kitchen, which is probably fine for many people. But it would be great if DCFoodTours could develop a separate type of tour for hard-core foodies who want that type of experience. I wouldn't trade our experience for the world, but now I'd like to go back for another tour that goes even deeper into the food.

The tour was wonderful. Our group was 10 indivudals which was a nice number. Our tour guide Ambi was great, she was informative, engaing and a lot of fun. The one challenge was when some of the group ate quickly and wanted to move on the some of the group were a bit more leisurely, taking in the full experience. I would definitely recommend this as a neat activity for a group and personally would definitely do another food tour with Charm City

I thought there was too much food in short period of time.. Even though the tour was 3 hours the places we went were too close... All tours we have taken before were food tours with talk about the city... There was not much talking from tour guide...Food was very good but doggie bags were given, but when on vacation what do you do with them///? It would have been nicer if there was more talking about the city and eating their foods at a slower pace..

I have done many other food tours; this strictly is a food tour. The others were food plus a lot of history and architectural walking tour. I thought we were going to get a little more background than we did. Food was very good but much too much in such a short walking distance.

Ambi was our tour guide, she was very knowledgable and had a great personality. The food was plenty and delicious! Our tour was 1-4:30p on a Saturday, a good time as the crowds were light in each restaurant. We had great weather for the walking tour and all 4 restaurants had tables ready for us. I thought the pasta dish at the bakery was a little much because we were all ready for dessert and the gelato and tiramisu were fabulous. The cappuccino was a great ending for a terrific gastronomic tour of Italy.

The Little Italy food tour was fantastic. Our guide, Ambi quickly made us feel welcomed in Charm City and whisked us off to our first stop of four local restaurants. She gave us quick historical facts and pointed out prominent buildings along the way. Each restaurant we were taken to provided its own charm and served us terrific food. It was great to be ushered to a table waiting for us and have the food delivered without waiting! This food tour was worth the money and the time!

First, this is an amazing experience, our team leader, Jessica is extremely nice. First, she personally keep calling me to find out whether I will be there, because I was late. She made me feel important. Continued to call me, she was apt in giving direction, the foods were wonderful, wine was delicious. Jessica has an amazing way of describing historical connection of some of the buildings, she waited for every person in the group to come together before saying something important. She was helpful in serving everybody in the group in each of the shop we stopped at. I have been in the USA for 12 years, and I have not in my life ever received such a personal service that is of greatest quality with such an effusive smile. I will try to organize an other group with a specification that I have get Jessica as the tour leader.

Our guide David kept the tour light and a little factual but also fun as we walked through downtown Little Italy. The corned beef bite at Attman's deli melted in our mouths. I'm glad we went to local, ma and pa places. The portions on this tour were generous. At the end, I was stuffed, In a pleasant way. We ended on a good note, in a family business with homemade pasta and Tirimusu. It all was a nice insight into the local flavor and character of Little Italy in Baltimore.

The tour was a good balance of area history, funny stories, great little hidden places like the bocce court and Star Spangled Banner Museum, plus exceptional food, wine, coffee, and dessert choices. Shopping opportunities were at a couple of the stops, but the tour was pretty fast-paced. We (and others on the tour too) commented that the tour was a great introduction to the area, but along the way, we also put together a list of places we would come back to explore. We left afterwards totally satisfied with the tour, the food samples, and the amount of new, fun, and useful information. We will probably be booking the tour of Fells Point soon.

This was my second tour with Charm City foods and I must say it was very impressive. Our tour guide was pleasant, witty, and informal. The ATTMAN'S Deil hands down is the greatest creation on Earth. The Cornbeef sandwhich is a taste of heaven. I'm willing to make the 1 1/2 drive to Baltimore just to endulge in its greatness! Every resturaunt we stopped at had emaculant food. You get the total package going on this tour, great history and great food, you can't go wrong with that!

Ambi offered snapshots of information about the neighborhoods we were walking through between apparently un-coordinated tastings. Although she was pleasant and trying to be helpful, we would have preferred a more systematic history of the neighborhoods, and tastings organized in a more logical order. For instance, a cappucino some pizza, lasagna, and then dessert. Make it like one traveilling meal. It was nice to be able to sit down at each restaurant, although since most were essentially empty, we were surprised the service was so slow. We wish the chiefs at each restaurant had talked about their cooking traditions more, offered some recipes, told stories about their neighborhood or discussed tips for cooking in their style. The meal was expensive (55 for 4 stops and a 3 hour tour!!!) but Ambi made the three hours pass pleasantly enough. I think next time, just get a good meal at carmines or bucca di beppo and you will get your money worth ! im not kiddin'

Our Little Italy & Jonestown tour was fantastic. This was our first trip to Baltimore so we took in lots of the tourist attractions. By far, this was our favorite activity. During our walking tour of the area, we tasted incredible, ethnic Italian & jewish foods/wine. We also learned much about the history of this area of Baltimore, the immigrants who settled here, and the Baltimoreans who enjoy this rich area today. Ambi & Jess were friendly, knowledgeable hosts for the tour and made sure we had a great time. Picked up some great edible souvenirs as well. Tour lasted approx 3 hours with the flexibility to sit longer at each stop if we had wanted. We look forward to another trip back to the area just so that we can attend another Charm City food tour!

I'd read good things about our guide, Ambi, and she certainly lived up to the hype. Very personable! The whole thing was really fun, the walking actually wasn't so bad, and the amount of food was more than expected. I felt almost full after the first stop. My only wish is that we could have gone into some of the historical buildings Ambi pointed out rather than just walking by them. If you're on the fence about the price, I recommend you try it just this once. You won't be disappointed.

What a fun tour this is! I thought I knew the area, but we went to 5 places that I'd never been. All of the food was outstanding. Our tour guide was fun and knowledgeable. It was a causal, laid back tour, but we still saw everything. My eleven year old asked to do this for his birthday. He loved it. We took a chance on the Little Italy tour not knowing anything about it - and it was a lousy weather day! Cold, icy, etc. But the 5 of us loved it! We enjoyed our wonderful guide, Ambi, and the various stops. My niece just moved to the area to attend Johns Hopkins grad school and this tour provided her with more information about the area. We were in Baltimore for 3 days and this tour was the highlight.

I took my girlfriend on the Little Italy food tour for her birthday and we were both extremely happy with our experience. Our guide Ambi was very knowledgeable, funny, and had a great rapport with the restaurant owners\workers. I'm a big eater and was worried that I wouldn't be satisfied with the portions but by the end I was stuffed. The Jonestown deli while not Italian was a good stop for the cultural signifigance, portions, and food. The panini and wine restaurant was a bit disappointing but made up for by all of the other stops. Save room for the tiramasu and (if you get it over coffee) hot chocolate at the end, they are both filling, rich, and a must have. Bring a few extra bucks if you want to buy a additional drinks or items at the stops.

The owners and their staff interacted with each guest in the group and were in no rush to have us move along. The food was fabulous and the portions were more than generous. We plan to go back to Baltimore just to have full meals at these establishments. Our tour guide, Ambie, was a doll.
