We received the heights culintary walking tour as a gift. We do not live anywhere near the heights, so the opportunity to come "in-town" and be able to try the restaurants that only the locals would know of was exciting. Although this was a walking tour, it was not enough walking to work up a sweat. In fact, it was just enough walking to allow a small break in between tastings. There were 5 different stops we made along the way. Only one of them provided an alcoholic beverage. You have the option to purchase beverages at the other locations, but it never seemed as though we had time to do this. The food was prepped and ready for us when we go there (which was great!). Our tour included Onion Creek Cafe, Cavatore, Tacos a Gogo, Happy Fatz & a Gelato parlor. Our tour guide mentioned that they would be changing a few restaurants on the tours to come. The tour guide was great & entertaining. He provided us with history of the city and fun stories about how the restaurants on the tour were chosen.
A few things that were different than what was explained on the FAQ document posted on the website. 1. There is not a "bus or shuttle". This is a 100% walking tour. 2. There are no drinks available (St. Arnold's brew is listed on the FAQ document) and you are unable to walk with a cooler. You can bring a bottle of water with you.
Other than these few minor things the walking tour was fantastic!! We will be signing up for walking tour in other areas of Houston soon! |
